The Oscillators
With
master parameters set satisfactorily, it is time to set up the sole oscillator.
Look at the Oscillator Section.

If you
look at the Oscillator Selector at the top of the Oscillator Section, you can
see the 1 tab is currently selected. Therefore, all
changes made at the moment will only affect
Oscillator1.

7. Left Click the arrow next to the Wave Field and from the menu select Vintage Saw1.
![]()
Now when you
play a note, Oscillator1 will generate a sawtooth waveform.
8. Left Click Once
in the Octave Field, increasing
Oscillator1’s root octave to +1.
![]()
Oscillator1
will now play one octave higher than the default.
9. Left Click 4
Times in the Mode Field,
changing the Mode to Multi Sync.
![]()
The
Multi-Mode transforms a standard oscillator into a multi oscillator. Therefore,
the standard sawtooth becomes a supersaw, which in the case of Z3TA+ is 8 sawtooth waves slightly detuned from one another.
Supersaws have
become an integral feature of Trance music and modern synths
as they are a good way to get things sounding big, fat and warm.
The Fine
Slider detunes the Oscillator in cent steps. A cent is 100th of a semitone.
![]()
10.
Increase Oscillator1 Fine to 21.9c.
![]()
You just
detuned Oscillator1 up by 21.9 100ths of a semitone.
With
Multi-Mode in operation the Phase Slider’s function is to control the detune between the
eight sawtooth waves which make up the supersaw (Oscillator1 output). This is
not the same as the detune controlled by the Fine
Slider, which globally detunes all eight sawtooth waves.
![]()
11. Increase
Oscillator1 Phase to 180.0 deg.
![]()
This is
the biggest detune setting and you will hear the sound fatten up right away as the
eight sawtooth waves ‘spread out’.
The Level
Slider controls oscillator volume.
![]()
12. Set Oscillator1 Level to 100.0%.
